OK, so maybe it's a little cruel to start off this story with a mouthwatering meal and deliciously creepy hook, but then, Judith Post never does anything the blah way. Her creativity charms us again with an intriguing theme. What if our lives are preordained and have been woven before birth? What if evil can tamper with Fate?Post explores and brings to life these ideas with Thea, weaver of life maps, or bookmarks. Thea and her friends also weave quilts to sell for charity and profit, while eating yummy food, of course. But all is not sweetness and good vittles. Bad things, unexpected and nasty things, begin to happen. Thea discovers her bookmarks, and there are thousands of them, are being tampered with, which means lives are drastically changed. Ugly knobs and unraveling edges are distorting the lovely patterns of life, changes far worse than the usual knots and bumps along life's pathways. Thea's challenge intensifies when she learns about changes in her son's bookmark from her late husband's ghost. Throw in this writer's knack for whipping up a tasty mystery and you've got the ingredients for a delectable read.

Not only does the main character Thea have the glimpse, but she has the ability to weave the life story for that soul. However, good does not exist without evil lurking around the corner, and Thea has an evil force to deal with before everyone's life in Emerald Hill's is changed.
